- place vegetables on a shelf rather than in the drawers. They will be more visually available and a consistent reminder to eat them before the wilt or rot.
- Prep your veggies. many vegetables can be cut and prepped, like onions, peppers or broccoli for breakfast scrambled eggs. They last several days and reduce prep and cleaning time on busy mornings.
- Store in better proportions. using single serving size containers will give the stomach time to feel full before an additional serving is taken from the fridge and reheated. This would have come in handy as a kid when I'd entire portions of leftovers for a snack. Fortunately, my body would use most of that energy back then; now I need to be more careful.
My paleo muffins (Feb '12) cut into smaller portions and stored in smaller containers. They last a lot longer this way.
- Freeze extra servings. Many dishes can be frozen, especially paleo dessert type dishes, stews, or sauces. An entire pot of spaghetti squash sauce can be divided into 3 or 4 bags and frozen for later.
- pair healthy snack items. if there is enough space, even items that don't need refrigeration can be placed with those that do, like Greek yogurt and almonds.
